One of the most exciting events my family and friends from all over enjoy is the Ranger Open House which I discovered last night from one of the Camp Merrill NCO’s has been cancelled. Then when I opened my Nugget this afternoon I see the same is confirmed. The bridge leading to Mosley Airfield has been removed due to age and/or weight requirements. If you have been to the event you know the bridge as it is the only way to get to the airfield from the barracks. The Ranger Run is still on.
They plan on completing the new bridge in July and will hold Ranger Open House next year on May 7th, 2011.
While the open house has been cancelled the Ranger Run Competition is still scheduled. There is a 5K and 15K foot race as well as a 34K bike race. There is also a duathalon for you who have the fortitude which includes both the 5K run and the 34K bike race.
All events will start at the 4H Camp on Camp Wahsega Road. You can still register the day of the race at 6:00 a.m. I plan to be a late registrant and hope to improve my time over last year’s race. Possibly if I can find some time to train for it I will do better. If anyone knows of a Dahlonega Running group please let me know as I would be interested in posting about it for others who find it best to run in groups.
